The short version
- We collect only what Kinder Path needs to work: your account, what you save, and what you choose to write.
- We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and have no ad, analytics or tracking tools in the app.
- Your journal and check-ins are private to you. They are never shown to other members and never sent to AI services.
- We don't store your precise location. We store only a rough area (about 10 miles across) or the town you pick.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time.
Who we are
Kinder Path is run by WayBetter Technologies LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the Kinder Path app and kinderpath.org collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email support@kinderpath.org.
What we collect
| Information | What it includes | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address, password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form), display name, avatar, interests, distance and unit settings, time zone | To create and secure your account and tailor what you see |
| Location | If you allow it, your phone's position is used to find nearby listings. It's turned into an encrypted token that stays on your phone for up to 12 hours. We keep only a rough area (about 10 miles across) with no name attached, and your chosen "Home" town. | To show things near you |
| Saves and activity | Listings you save, mark as attended or hide; challenges you choose | To remember your choices and show your progress |
| Check-ins and journal | Mood check-ins, optional notes and journal entries | So you can look back. Only you can see them. |
| Circles | Circles you join, posts and replies you write, shown with your display name and avatar | To let you connect with other members |
| Safety | Reports and blocks you make, and moderation decisions about content | To keep Kinder Path safe and kind |
| Feedback and suggestions | Messages you send us and places you suggest | To improve the app and add listings |
| Kinder Path Plus | Subscription status, plan and renewal date. We never see your card details. Apple handles payment. | To unlock Plus features |
| Organizer submissions (website) | Name, organization, email, listing details, a link to your event page, and a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address | To review your listing, contact you about it, and prevent spam |
What we don't collect: contacts, photos you haven't chosen to share, browsing history, advertising IDs, or push-notification tokens. Event reminders are created on your phone itself. The app has no analytics or crash-reporting tools.
How we use it
- To run Kinder Path: show nearby listings, save your choices, send reminders you asked for and keep your account secure.
- To keep the community safe: we screen posts, feedback and submissions for harmful content, using automated tools and human review.
- To send emails you need: account verification, password resets and updates about listings you submitted. We don't send marketing email without your permission.
We do not sell your information, share it with data brokers, or use it for advertising or profiling.
Services that help us run Kinder Path
We share information with these providers only so they can do their job for us:
| Provider | What they do | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Emergent | Hosts our servers and database | The information described above |
| Mapbox | Turns a town or ZIP code into a map location | The place you typed or the area being searched, with no account details |
| Apple Maps / Google Maps | Draws the map in the app | Map requests from your phone, under Apple's or Google's own policies |
| OpenAI | Helps screen posts for harmful content and reads public event web pages to check listings | The text being screened, with no name or email. Your journal and check-ins are never sent. |
| Resend | Sends our emails | Your email address and the message |
| RevenueCat | Manages Plus subscriptions | Your account ID and subscription status from Apple |
| Apple | Processes payments and subscriptions | Handled under Apple's privacy policy |
| Cloudflare | Hosts this website and checks the organizer form for bots | Standard website request information |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
How long we keep it
- Account information, saves, check-ins and journal: until you delete them or your account.
- Rough location areas: forgotten after 60 days without visitors.
- Moderation records: 90 days, or up to 1 year for safety-related records.
- Unconfirmed organizer submissions: 48 hours.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Profile → Delete account. You're signed out right away. Your name, avatar, posts' author details, journal, check-ins and saves are removed immediately, and the remaining records are permanently deleted within 30 days. If you subscribe to Plus, cancel it in your iPhone Settings as well, because deleting your account doesn't stop Apple's billing.
Your choices and rights
- Location is optional. You can type a town instead, and turn location off any time in your phone's Settings.
- You can see and edit your profile, delete posts and journal entries, and delete your account in the app.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing support@kinderpath.org. Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have additional rights, and we honor them for everyone.
Security
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords and encrypted location tokens, and we limit who can access data. No system is perfect, so please use a password you don't use elsewhere.
Children
Kinder Path is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we'll update the date at the top and let you know in the app or by email.
